Brother Printer Says Jam but there is none? Is that your worry? Well, this worries most of the Brother printer users as this is a very frequent glitch. This error may annoy you with interference when you are doing something important. Generally, this error arises when the paper gets stuck in the printer and does not come out. There are times when your Brother Printer says jam but none exists. Let us now see How the error occurs and how it can be resolved.

How Does Brother Printer Say Paper Jam when there is none:

There is a Drum Light in the Brother Printer that indicates the paper jam issue with the printer. This drum light is accompanied by an error message i.e. “Jam inside”. The drum light will blink two times and then vanish by showing the message which confirms that there is some problem with the drum unit or outside the printer or inside the printer. Try resolving the fake paper jam by;

  1. Check for the toner cartridge, drum unit, output and input trays, and other parts of your Brother printer.
  2. To avoid overheating of the printing device, cool it down by turning it off for some time.
  3. Also, ensure there is no paper stuck inside the printers or the rollers near the tray.
  4. Now, reboot to check for the actual error.

How to Resolve The Paper Jam Issue:

In case you find an actual paper jam issue, try resolving it using the steps mentioned below;

Step 1: Troubleshooting The Paper Jam Error By Removing From The Outside;

The paper jam may be only in the outer parts of the printer so, before checking the inside, check the outside of the printer.

  • Switch off the printer first.
  • Then, leave it switched off for at least 15 minutes.
  • Check the printer from outside when it is not heating.
  • Check the machine from outside for any debris.
  • Now, proceed by hitting the clear button on the machine.
  • Next, to see if the error is resolved, print a sheet of paper.

Step 2: Troubleshooting The Paper Jam Error By Removing From Toner Cartridge And Drum Unit:

If, after cleaning the debris from outside does not help, try clearing the jammed error from inside and for that follow the steps below;

  • Allow your printer to cool down for 15 minutes after turning it off.
  • Do not touch any internal parts of the machine until it is cool.
  • After 15 minutes check for the jammed bits of paper by taking off the top cover.
  • Now, gently take out the toner cartridge and the drum unit from the Brother printer.
  • After getting rid of the jammed bits of paper, place back the toner cartridge and drum unit back, very carefully.
  • Put the top cover back.
  • Now, shoot the clear button and proceed with a test print to check if the issue is resolved.

Step 3: Troubleshooting The Paper Jam Error By Checking All The Parts Of The Printer;

If you do not find any problem with the above two steps the last resort is to check the printer fully by removing all the parts. Keep in mind to keep the removed parts on a neat and stable surface to avoid any harm to these parts. Follow the steps to do so;

  • Switch off the printer by removing the power cord.
  • Let it cool for about 15 minutes.
  • Once it cools, take out the toner cartridge, the drum unit, and the paper tray.
  • Open the front cover of the printer and let it be like that for 15 minutes till it cools down.
  • Now take off the back cover from the machine.
  • Then, remove the duplex tray as well and thoroughly check all the parts of the printer.
  • Take out the jammed bits if you find any.
  • Place back all the parts one by one.
  • Now, it should work without any problem.
