Quick Guide to Fix Printer In Error State Problem

Method 1: Update the widow

The outdated version of the Window OS can be the reason for the printer being in an error state. So, you need to update your windows operating system. After updating the window the error will be fixed automatically. This method is very to rectify the error. 

 

Method 2: Printer driver reinstallation

 

If updating the window is not working then try to fix the error by reinstalling the printer drivers. Following are the steps to reinstall the drivers:

 

  • First of all, you need to click on the start menu button on your computer and then find the device manager folder and then click on it to open it.

  • Now, under the device manager folder, you need to click on the “view” tab and then click on “show hidden device'' in the drop-down menu.
  • Next, find and right-click on the “port (COM & LPT)” option, then you need to click on the “properties” option.

  • In the “properties” tab, you need to tap on “port settings'' and then uncheck the “enable legacy plug and play detection” box and then click on the ok button. Now, check if the issue is resolved or not. If the issue is not resolved then again check the “enable legacy plug and play detection” box and see if it is fixed.

  • If the error is not fixed, then you need to open the “device manager” again and then expand the “ports (COM & LPT)” option and search for your printer name. 

  • After that, you need to right-click on your printer name and then click on the “uninstall” button to uninstall the drivers.

  • After uninstalling the printer drivers, you need to go back to the “device manager” option and click on the “update driver software” option.

  • Then a pop-up window will appear on your screen, where you need to click on the “browse my computer for the driver software'' option. Thereafter, click on the “browse” button, then locate your drivers and click on the next button to start the driver installation.
  • If you do not have the printer drivers then you need to click on the “search automatically for the updated driver software” tab. This will automatically download and install the drivers.

  • Once you are done with the drivers installation, try to print a document.
